Hello from Woodruff, South Carolina

Postby SteveSC » Thu Oct 06, 2011 10:23 pm

I have a small farm in the upstate of SC. My wife and I built our house ourselves - I'm a beekeeper - gardener / farmer - have some goats, chickens - raise blackberries and blueberries that I make wine from. I've always wanted to raise worms and now is the time I'll start. Glad to find this website - I'll read all the posts before I start asking questions but I'm sure I'll have plenty of questions..... Glad to be here - talk soon... Steve

Hello Steve,

Sounds like the perfect life. I used to be a hobby beekeeper but my wife had a bad reaction to the bees in the backyard so had to give them up. Sadest day of my life almost.

Now I am into breeding Red Wrigglers and African Night Crawlers here in South East Queensland Australia. I sell at a local market and am about to sell online within Australia. It is just a hobby and I don't expect to get rich from it. I just enjoy doing it. My Website is www.briansworms.com I have links to this site on there. It is very basic, bit like me I suppose.

You can't go wrong with this site. Give Bruce a call when you are ready to order yor worms. As the name suggests he is the Worm Expert :D :D
regards
Brian :-) :-)

Brian.. Those bees are addictive aren't they ? The honey is just a by product of how much we need them around. I'd hate to have to give them up but you have to do what you have to do.

I'm going to try my hand at raising the Red Wrigglers and African Night Crawlers like you do. I'm a about 3 yrs. from retirement so I figure I should start the new hobby now, then by the time I retire I will have learned a lot - hopefully I will have made all the major mistakes and they'll behind me... Notice I said " hopefully "..!

Good luck with your business - hope you do well. I'll go visit your web site. Nice to meet someone from South East Queensland Australia that has the same interest as myself - small world, huh..? Take care.. Steve

Bruce... Great site you have here - tons of information. I'll be asking you for advice and information.

I believe I know where you. Years ago I used to fish below the dam - I grew up off White Horse Rd..

I'll be converting ( insulating - putting some bins in ) a 12 x 14 barn stall into the worm room.

Thanks for the welcome... Steve
